Preparing for Confession
SO MANY OF US THINK CONFESSION is a matter of going in, getting "the big ones off our chest" and getting out (Some others think it's a time to discuss everything under the sun, except our sins). If this is all we do, we are really losing out.
Some of us don't go at all. Bishop Paul, Abbot of The Monastery of the Holy Ascension in Woodstock, New York, once told me that skipping confession is like "rolling a bulldozer over your spiritual life."
Father James Cole has created an absolutely wonderful post on confession, including advice from the 20th century saint, Father John of Krondstadt.
